Sara Ramirez (born Sara Ramirez) is a Mexican American performer, singer and actress. Raised by her mother throughout the USA she faced many racial slurs that made her feel being a bit unpopular. If she attended an event at school and was given high praise for her singing, in ninth grade, the girl began to gain confidence. It not only increased her confidence, but also her goals changed. She was a graduate of the New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was You've Got Mail. In the Broadway original production of Spamalot She played The Lady of The Lake and was awarded the Tony Award as well as critical praise. Later in the same year she joined the ABC show Grey's Anatomy as Dr. Callie Torres and gained wider appreciation for her performance. Alongside being a popular singer, she released a solo and an extended piece. As an activist, she works tirelessly for LGBT equality.
